DESERTS, BEACHES, SAND DUNES AND FLAT DRY COUNTRY-SIDE
Boa Vista can be spotted from Sal island on a day with good visibility and is only a 15min flight or 2hr boat trip.
It is part of the Barlavento group of northern islands.
It's bigger but still quite similar to Sal. Boa Vista is mostly flat hosting picturesque, untouched white sandy beaches and deserts.
It has many sand dunes - perfect for off-roading and 4x4 activities, with great nature opportunities including turtle nesting, whale watching season and diving excursions.
Lots of wind and waves, which makes great conditions for surf-based water-sport activities and fishing is also available.
DRAMATIC LANDSCAPE, GREEN VALLEYS & PANORAMIC VIEWS
Santo Antao is part of the Barlavento (northern) collection of Cape Verde Islands.
Breathtaking views from the high points, winding roads and you might be able to see Santa Luzia.
Easy to get to by ferry from Mindelo's port and takes approx 1hr.
Mostly mountainous, full of high peaks and green valleys with waterfalls during the raining season (Aug-Sept).
It's home to grog distilleries, diving, camping and remote villages hidden within the mountains.
You may find some wildlife that even the locals are unaware of living here - including bats!
A perfect escape.
MARINAS, MUSIC, LIVELY CITY & DRY MOUNTAINS
São Vicente is a cultural hub between the islands with many influences from Europe, Brasil, Cuba, and Africa combined.
It's has a lively atmosphere of hustle and bustle from Mindelo, music, and nightlife.
A popular destination to live and vacation by locals, the attraction of Mindelo is gathering more sparks of external tourism with direct flights from Portugal.
It has good connections with other islands, particularly the northern part of the archipelago.
Catch a ferry from the port and arrive in Santo Antãao in around an hour, or stay and enjoy the restaurants, picturesque beach or scuba diving.
A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING!
São Nicolau is an amazing place that is virtually crime-free, fully natural with a pre-dominantly mountainous landscape.
It hosts some beautiful beaches with high sand dunes and white sand.
It's known for its grogue production, so visit the distilleries for a tasting session.
It's unique rock formations are one of the seven wonders of Cabo Verde and truly a spectacular sight.
Visit the natural swimming pools (lagoons) on the edge of the cliffs on the east side of the island for a fun and different experience.
ACTIVE VOLCANO, WINE & GROGUE
Fogo has an active volcano which is without a doubt one of it's biggest attractions.
Other include hiking, as the landscape is perfect with dry mountains and fossilised lava rivers it's an interesting scenic route to walk.
It has a small population and but tourists still find Fogo an interesting destination.
Here is famous for its local wine production 'Cha' and 'Sodade', bottles can be found on other islands also.
It also has distilleries to produce the Cabo Verde's national alcohol 'Grogue', so you can stop by and taste and see how it's made.
WILD & FULL OF FLOWERS
The flower island of Brava (which means wild in Portuguese) is blooming with sights to see.
While being one of the smaller islands, Brava has a lot to offer.
The terrain is the opposite of Sal's flat desert landscape it is mountainous, with lots of trees, plants and nature.
Birds and other non-threatening wildlife live here and is one of the less populated islands of Sal.
It has it's main town and then some rural villages.
THE CAPITAL
Home to the capital city of Cabo Verde; Praia city will be your first point on Santiago Island.
Like the other islands, Santiago has a contrast within itself from the big city to mountains, beaches and rural country-side.
Visitors often recommend visiting Tarrafal in the North which is particularly beautiful and relaxing.
Also visit the markets where you will find a much larger selection of fruits grown on the island and other imports.
Lots of culture and places to see, music and festivals all year round.
A RELAXING ESCAPE
Similar to Sal and Boa Vista, Maio's landscape mimics these on a smaller scale and therefore attracts some of the same nature.
Mostly flat hosting picturesque, untouched white sandy beaches and deserts.
It has many sand dunes, turtle nesting, whale watching season.
Lots of wind and waves, which makes great conditions for surf-based water-sport activities and fishing is also available.
But the most important thing to take advantage of with Maio is the lack of people and tourism.
Accessible by flight or ferry Maio is much quieter and very relaxing, romantic and a great escape from the world.
